A focused effort to evolve UIQ’s website in < 3 months. I took over the project midway and led it to completion while ensuring consistency across UCPG brands.
Phase 1
Internal handoff
When capacity became a concern for another copywriter, I took over UIQ’s web evolution. With discovery and sitemapping already done, I needed to get up to speed quickly to ensure the website launched on time. After one quick meeting (and maybe a dozen async Slack messages), I was in the driver’s seat with no disruption to the timeline.
Phase 2
Executing against another’s vision
I created wireframes and copy that adhered to the original budget and timeline. This was not a full rebrand, so my priority was strategic evolution to facilitate clearer user journeys while supporting UIQ’s needs as they continued to grow.
Phase 3
Maintaining consistency
During web design, I guided the team on how to ensure consistency—not just across the website, but across multiple UCPG-related brands.
UCPG is the developer, manager, and trustee for both UIQ and Calgary’s University District, so it was important for them to feel related, while also giving each a distinct brand identity.
